They are regularly on top of lists of the best US cities to live in because of low crime, clean streets, and orderliness. However, this does not make the city boring. Minneapolis and St. Paul love to party and have fantastic restaurants, bars, and other fun things to do.
Minneapolis and St. Paul are both beautiful and lively, but they have their differences. Minneapolis has more parks and more sports stadiums, and it’s closer to the Mississippi River. St. Paul is older, with a stately feel, but it’s also home to the Minnesota State Capitol and Cathedral of Saint Paul.
While the Saint Paul Hotel in St. Paul is elegant and charming, Minneapolis is a better city for exploring and staying. Rather than be surrounded by the city, stay on Nicolett Island. This area is just outside Downtown and is literally surrounded by water. The water is the Mississippi River. Many of the rooms here have views of the river and the parks that line it. You can also see the city from here.
The atmosphere of this place is classic. It has wrought iron bedsteads and plush carpets, and it serves afternoon tea, romantic dinners, and five course Sunday brunches. Its scenery is breathtaking, and its intimate feeling is no wonder that this is voted the most romantic dining experience in the Twin Cities.

2. The Saint Paul Hotel
The St. Paul Inn is a beautiful hotel with elegantly decorated rooms and plush chenille chairs. It has hosted many famous guests, including John F. Kennedy and Charles Lindbergh. It is a place where the rich and famous come to have afternoon tea or even get married.
The location of the store is unbeatable. It’s located right across from the Landmark Center, a cultural center in St Paul. The store is within walking distance of the river too.
3. Le Méridien Chambers Minneapolis
When you’re in Minneapolis, you want to be at Le Mèridien. It’s the top choice for its rooms filled with contemporary art and its hip Mercy Bar and Dining Room. The hotel is located in two historic buildings in the heart of Downtown.
There are lots of restaurants and theaters within walking distance, and it’s just under a mile to the Walker Museum of Art. Guests are treated to free admission. There’s also a gym that offers in-room massages, complimentary bikes, and a Turkish bath.
4. Kimpton The Grand Hotel Minneapolis
If you’re coming to Minneapolis, the Kimpton is the perfect place to stay. It’s in the center of downtown and close to everything. You can walk to all three stadiums, the light rail station, and tons of great restaurants, theaters, and museums.

At the hip WXYZ bar, you can get great drinks and listen to some music. The Re:mix Lounge is a nice quiet place to get a drink, play some pool, and relax after a long day.
6. Loews Minneapolis
Loews is loved by business travelers because of its easy access by Skyway to many top companies. They also love the hotel’s large supply of family-friendly amenities. For families, there is a large room filled with useful toys. Travelers with pets are also taken care of. They can order food for their furry friends from the hotel menu.
What do you want to drink? How about food? You can drink and eat at three different bars and restaurants, but my favorite is Releve. It’s the place for custom cocktails made by expert bartenders. The drinks are served with small plates designed to match.
7. W Minneapolis – The Foshay
A historic icon of the city is now home to a new W hotel. The building was designed to look like the Washington Monument. It has combined its Art Deco style with a modern design. Rooms now range from “Wonderful” to “WOW”, and each category includes luxurious bed linens and a TV and DVD player.
The Fit gym has a 24/7 schedule and serves up some of the city’s top fitness classes. Manny’s Steakhouse serves up prime cuts in the Foshay Tower. It has a central location, which is right next to the city’s best attractions.
8. Hotel Ivy, a Luxury Collection Hotel
The Ivy Tower, one of the city’s most recognizable buildings, is now home to one of the city’s top hotels. Hotel Ivy is known for its pet-friendly rooms with stunning views of the city skyline. The hotel also offers a fitness center and luxurious spa with 14 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, steam, and sauna.
Monello is an Italian restaurant located on-site at Hotel Indigo® Minneapolis Downtown. It serves mostly dishes from the Campania region of Italy while Constantine bar is a decadent cocktail bar. Both are just steps from the Minnesota Orchestra, which is across the street from Target Center and other venues for concerts and sports.
9. Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot
This Marriott hotel is located in the heart of Downtown, just steps away from the US Bank Stadium and the Guthrie Theater. This is an ideal location for those looking to explore Minneapolis on foot. Guests can also walk to the Riverfront district, which is right at their doorstep.
The hotel occupies the historic Milwaukee Road Depot building and has luxurious rooms. It also has a relaxing restaurant serving classic dishes, as well as a fitness center with an indoor pool.
10. The Marquette Hotel, Curio Collection
